The tragic passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the ascension of King Charles III to the throne means that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are now first in line.
The young royals will have to wait until King Charles steps down before they assume their roles as rulers, however many signs have pointed to the couple already preparing to do so, with Kate in particular issuing one indication after another that she is nearing ready to be Queen.
“She is an adoring mother, and she is contributing publicly in the way we would want her to,” a source close to the royal household recently told People. “You see it more and more. The young student has turned into our future queen.”

As reported by Independent UK, Buckingham Palace has already stated that, if and when Prince William ascends to the throne, Middleton will swap her existing title as the Duchess of Cambridge to Queen Consort. In the assumption of her new role, Kate will also receive her own coronation ceremony within Prince William’s, however, it would be a simpler ceremony, according to the publication.
She’s got a royal stylist on retainer, and even had Queen Elizabeth’s own dresser on call in the past
While The Queen was the only royal who had a chief dresser in Angela Kelly (or curator, as she’s officially known), along with a staff of dressers in her employ, Kate sure is heading the way of having her own one day.
Having already been instructed by The Queen herself on how she should dress during public engagements (couture wears, longer hemlines, etc.), with the monarch having directed Kelly in the past to prepare the duchess’s wardrobe for her royal tour of Australia back in 2014, Kate has already had a substantial taste for queen-appropriate dressing.
Aside from already having an in-house tailor on staff, Kate also has her number-one royal wardrobe secret weapon in the form of her long-time stylist, Natasha Archer. First working for the duchess as her PA in 2007, Archer has styled Kate's way through many an iconic royal photo op, including her post-birth photo calls on the steps of the St Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing, and most recently, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s royal tour of Pakistan.
Adept at dressing the duchess both appropriately and elegantly for each and every type of royal engagement, Archer along with her monarch-to-be employer are already well-seasoned experts in sartorial curation, event preparedness and subliminal fashion messaging, essential skills in any future monarch’s fashion arsenal.
“[They] are well aware of the style stakes… They scout locations months ahead of tour events and know what will photograph well and what won’t,” notes Susan Kelley of What Kate Wore. “They also know how a material drapes, which fabrics wrinkle too easily, what brands might convey a sense of self-indulgence, and a host of other fashion facts.” She also notes that they colour-match locations to dresses.
